Oh, Not Again......Prime Minister's Resignation in JapaR

On Monday, 1st september, Japanese prime minister has announced his resignation, in the same way and at the same time as his predecesor, former prime minister Shinjo Abe did last september which once again raised shocking reactions from his countrymen as well as international community. This sudden and the most uexpected decision by the prime minister, on one hand has certainly given a serious blow to the very faith and interest by Japanese people on their prime minister, and on the other hand raised so many doubts about current political situation in Japan which has advanced one step ahead to the (political turmoil) in Japan.

There is no need to say that the recent decision of resignation by Japanese prime minister has kindle a debate on the recent decisions made by Japanese prime minister; first Mr. Abe and now Mr. Fukuda, to resign from the office in japanese post war period which has been termed as ” an unavoidable criticism of an extraordinary situation unprecedented in postwar Japanese politics .” by Mainichi shinbun, Japanese daily newspaper http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/news/20080902p2a00m0na014000c.html .

Moreover, this decision has shaken the faith and interest of japanese common people towards the politics which is already shaken and one more blow to this faith can be suicidal as far as Japanese politics is concerned. Japanese people have finally started to think that the political framework and system is never going to change. “Nothing can be changed, It is so because it was so.” said by Mr. Nakamura, student of economics in Osaka University.

Prime minister Fukuda has said that he has made this decision in a hope that any change in political leadership can create a possibility of reforms. The response over this decision is clearly not a good indication as the statement has prompted the common people to think towards the actual condition of Japanese Politics which is in the dire need of reforms in the background of current economic growth of 1.7% which is again going to drop down as the housing Subprime crisis continues in USA. The people has started to think if this is true that the requirement of reforms in Japanese political is so desperate and unavoidable which can lead the prime minister to eventually be so disappointed that he can resign even from his office and run away from his responsibilty as if he was not aware of current political system and its complexities one year before when he joined as the prime minister.

The main opposition party, Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) leader Ichiro Ozawa has announced the possibilities of the consective third term as the party leader, just few hours ago from the resignation. Now, from the political prospects it will be very interesting to watch the next move of DJP in order to make a consensus against this irrisponsibility shown by prime minister Fukuda, former Secretary General of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
